Chiropractic

Chiropractic is about the relationship between the body’s structure and function. The goal is to maximize the normal mechanical motion of all the joints, particularly the spine, as it has a direct connection to the central nervous system. This, in turn, affects surrounding soft tissue, nerves, lymphatics and blood vessels.

By working with the joints, muscles, fascia and discs—with gentle manipulation, soft tissue work and manual traction—I assist healing from injuries, as well as repetitive and gravitational stresses on the body’s structure. I call Chiropractic treatments “Newtonian” physics of the body because it related directly to gravity and levers, or “switches” in a mechanical sense.

Other effects are more indirect and make shifts through the reflexes that alter the nerves firing deeper, at the level of the spinal cord and central nervous system. The nerves send healthier, less activated signals, which in turn shift the brain, vascularity, joint motion, and lymphatics.

Ultimately the idea is that proper alignment and functioning if the body’s structures support the inherent healing capabilities we all have, giving us more energy to live a higher quality of life.

Dr. Kate uses other modalities which Chiropractic care such as: traction, muscular trigger point therapy, joint mobilization, and fascial release. Manipulations are preformed in different ways: non-force, low force, and high velocity. The type of manipulation applied depends on each person’s specific needs.
